Background:The Kyle and Jindabyne tenements were granted in July 2008. Since then, Icon has compiled a regional data set, reviewing previous exploration results, old workings, geological maps ad processing of geophysical data sets, confirming a large low-grade porphyry style copper system at the Jindabyne Dam prospect. Resource:Geological reconnaissance within the Kyloe and Jindabyne ELs has confirmed the presence of significant alteration associated with several of the known copper-gold workings. The historic Kyloe copper mine produced ~65,000 tones of copper ore of unknown grade before it closed in 1914, with the main shaft 210m deep. Geology/Geophysics:The porphyry copper style mineralization is associated with a magnetic, potassic altered, massive granodiorite phase of the Siluro-Devonian Kosciusko Batholith. Forward Program:With confirmation of several significant alterations around the old workings, partners are being sought to evaluate the potential for large porphyry-style systems. |
